Welcome to Aliya Shey Ceramics Studio
Thank you for visiting my studio. The pieces you’ll find throughout this portfolio are inspired by the places I return to time and again—moss covered forests, rocky shorelines, and weathered driftwood of Vancouver Island. I create one-of-a kind vessels that reflect a connection to landscape, material, and time. Each piece is an invitation to slow down, look closely, and appreciate the unique character that emerges through the making process.
This unique collection of hand built stoneware is shaped through an intuitive process of forming and carving, where surface, texture, and silhouette are allowed to emerge naturally.
Select vessels are fitted with driftwood handles, sometimes paired with handcrafted ceramic beads, while others are left unadorned to emphasize the integrity of the form. Natural jute cord is used to secure each element, introducing a quiet, organic contrast that complements the stoneware and driftwood without overpowering them.
